Fourth American Jordanian Expo, AJEX 2006 Opens in Amman

Amman, June 7 (Petra)--The Fourth American Jordanian Expo (AJEX 2006), which is organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, in Cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) opened in Amman on Wednesday.

The forum, which was opened by Minister of Industry and Trade Sharif Al Zu'bi, aims at promoting trade and investment opportunities between Jordan, United States and the region.

Participants, who include businessmen and representatives of corporations from Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, India, Bahrain, Tunisia, the USA and Jordan, will review in working sessions the business environment, and investment opportunities in their countries in addition to trade relations between their countries and the United States.

Zu'bi said in remarks during the opening of the forum, that Jordan made big strides to become a center for trade and investment in the Middle East. "The government is continuing its reform program in line with His majesty King Abdullah's vision to enable Jordan to have a modern, secure, stable and strong economy," he added.

The minister said that Jordan has an advanced infrastructure that enjoys high competitiveness in addition to skilled Labour force.

Zu'bi reviewed future plans to develop investment legislations to attract more investments into the Kingdom.
