Bakhit meets
members of regional council of MENA American Chambers of Commerce
AMMAN (Petra) — Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit on Thursday met with members of the
regional council of the MENA American Chambers of Commerce who are participating
in the Fourth American Jordanian Expo AJEX 2006. During the meeting, Bakhit
stressed the importance of expanding the base of participants in the American
chambers’ regional council. He also emphasised that Arab American chambers of
commerce should focus on conveying knowledge to the region’s economies and work
to diversify exports as well as increase the volume of commercial exchange and
investments among the MENA countries. Upon an initiative by the American Chamber
of Commerce in Jordan, representatives of the American Chambers of Commerce in
Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria have signed a protocol to
establish the MENA AmCham regional council in order to boost cooperation among
them.
