Irbid QIZ exports rise 16% through May

IRBID (Petra) — Exports from Irbid's factories rose during this year's first five months by 16 per cent, reaching $139 million compared to $123 million during the same period last year. The largest portion of the exports of the northern governorate went to the US markets, accounting for $110.8 million, Director of Irbid's Department of Industry and Trade Ali Sreihein said. Under the Free Trade Agreement signed between Jordan and the US in 2000, the country's Qualified Industrial Zones (QIZs) provide a duty- and quota free access to all products exported to the US. Irbid is home to Al Hassan Industrial Estate, established in 1991, and Jordan Cybercity.
