Jordan Takes Part in 10th Arab Conference on Fighting Terrorism

Jordan is currently taking part in the 10th Arab Conference for Officials in Charge of Combating Terrorism, which started in Tunis today.

The two-day conference, which is organized by the Secretariat General of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council, is attended by all Arab countries, the Arab League and the Naïf Arab University for Security Sciences.

Topics for discussion will include the role of Al Qaeda in the increase of terrorist threats, the role of fatwa (religious edict) in the increase of terrorist thoughts and the experience of Arab countries in fighting terrorism.

Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council, Mohammad Bin Ali Koman highlighted in his opening remarks, the role that should be played by religious, media, educational, cultural and social institutions to support security departments in combating terrorism.

He urged governments to take action to fight ignorance, poverty and deprivation, which breed terrorism, especially among the youth.
