King to meet Clinton today
AMMAN (J.T.) — His Majesty King Hussein is expected to meet today with
U.S. President Bill Clinton to discuss Jordanian-American relations, developments in the
peace process and the U.S. efforts to end the present deadlock on the Israeli-Palestinian
track.
The U.S. initiative revolves around Israel transferring an additional 13 per cent of the
West Bank to the Palestinian National Authority over three months.
The King recently warned that Israel's failure to implement agreements with the
Palestinians “would create negative effects on everything that has come before
whether between Israel and the Palestinians or with any other party involved in the peace
process.”
King Hussein is also scheduled to meet U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and
other American officials.
