King Meets with Congress

Washington, June 16 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II started on Tuesday
afternoon talks with representatives of the American legislative authority on
Middle East issues and enhancing bilateral relations in all fields. Following
his meetings with American administration officials, including the US President,
,George W. Bush, and US Vice President Dick Cheney, His Majesty met with Head of
the House Republican Policy Committee / Head of the National Security Committee,
Cris Cox, and discussed with him terrorism and best ways to deal with it.
The King affirmed that the successful way to fight terrorism is through solving
the Palestinian issue, enhancing the sustainable development and improving
standards of living of people in the region. the King added that terrorists
invest youth's despair and frustration. On the US aid to Jordan, His Majesty met
with head of the Allocations Committee in the Parliament, Bill Young, as well as
members of the committee. The King raised the issue of the US aid for the coming
fiscal year and the Jordanian developmental needs for the coming two years.
The King stressed the importance of improving the standards of living of
citizens, noting to the importance of providing fund and expertise for going
ahead in the reform process.
In addition, the King outlined the Jordanian reform projects in the fields of
education, administration, training, higher education, and justice.
