Exports surge by 116 per
cent in four years
Exports rose by 116 per cent during the past four years reaching JD2.3 billion
in 2004 compared to JD1.1 billion in the year 2000. Exports to Arab countries
increased by 118 per cent to JD507 million comprising 40 per cent of the exports
total, while exports to the European Union grew to JD28 million or two per cent
of total exports, according to study conducted by Jordan Chamber of Industry.
The study showed that exports to the US multiplied by 15 times reaching JD677
million whereas exports to non-Arab Asian countries reached 13 per cent.
