Foreign Trade Rises by 33%
Amman, June 17(Petra)-- Foreign trade (exports and imports) rose ,during the
first four months in 2004, by 33% compared to the same period of 2003, according
to the monthly bulletin of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The bulletin attributed the increase to the rise of imports by 33% and exports
by 44%.
"The United States was the main importer of Jordanian goods with 26.8%, followed
by Iraq with 17.5%, then Syria with 6.7%, Saudi Arabia with 6.2%, and finally
India with 5.6%," the bulletin added.
According to the bulletin, exports of the Qualified Industrial Zones rose by
47.1% to reach JD 163.1 million.
