King Holds Talks with Kuwaiti Crown Prince
His Majesty King Abdullah II discussed with visiting Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber, the current
situation in the region and mechanisms of promoting bilateral cooperation in various fields.
The King and the Kuwaiti Crown Prince also reviewed the latest developments in the Palestinian lands and their impact on
efforts exerted to establish just and comprehensive peace in the region.
His Majesty stressed Jordan’s support to Palestinian legitimacy and to efforts designed to enhance Palestinian unity. He
also underlined the need to support the Palestinians to enable them to regain their legitimate rights, at the top of
which is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
King Abdullah highlighted the need to end the blockade imposed on the Palestinians and to facilitate the entry of
humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
The King and Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad stressed the importance of the Arab peace initiative in reinvigorating the peace
process, ending the Arab-Israeli conflict and finding a just and permanent solution to the Palestinian issue.
Talks during the meeting, which was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein and the Kuwaiti Deputy
Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al Salim, also touched on the latest developments in Lebanon
and Iraq.
The King and the Kuwaiti Crown Prince stressed their support to efforts designed to preserve unity, stability and
sovereignty of the two countries.
They also expressed keenness to further cement relations, mainly in the economic, trade, investment and educational fields.
King Abdullah voiced appreciation of the support provided by Kuwait under the leadership of Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al
Jaber Al Sabah to enable Jordan to implement economic and developmental programs. He highly valued support provided by
the Kuwaiti Development Fund to Jordan in the industry, energy, water, health and environmental fields.
Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad conveyed greetings of the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber to His Majesty as well as
his keenness to strengthen relations with Jordan.
He expressed appreciation of efforts exerted by Jordan, under His Majesty’s leadership to enhance joint Arab action and
unify stands on challenges facing the Arab nation at this stage.
His Majesty later held a lunch banquet in honor of the Kuwait Crown Prince and the accompanying delegation that was
attended by a number of Royal family members, the prime minister and highly ranking civil and military officials.
Kuwaiti investments in the Kingdom exceeded $6 billion, placing Kuwait on top of the list of investors in Jordan.
Over the past years, Kuwait supported a number of developmental projects and programs in the Kingdom and provided an
oil grant of 25,000 barrel a day for six months in 2003.
