King 'revolted' by terrorist act

AMMAN (JT) — His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday said he was “shocked and revolted” by the beheading of American hostage Paul Marshall Johnson.

Condemning the “heinous crime,” King Abdullah told the Jordan Radio and CNN that the “outrageous barbaric act was against all Islamic and human values,” the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported yesterday.

The King urged the international community to unite in fighting such crimes and terrorist acts, committed in the name of God and Islam.

“It hurts me to the core as a Muslim to see these dreadful crimes in the name of God and Islam,” King Abdullah said, reiterating Jordan's full support for Saudi Arabia.

He said such acts are not only targeting the United States and the West, but also Islam and humanity in general. “Our hearts go out to the family of Johnson at this extremely difficult time,” he added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Faisal Fayez, currently visiting Singapore, described the murder yesterday as “brutal and harmful to the name of Islam.”
