Fifth annual Jordan
Youth Forum opens today
AMMAN (JT) — The fifth annual Jordan Youth Forum is expected to take off today
with some 100 young people from across the country taking part.
The three-day event will bring together young men
and women to participate in youth-to-youth projects at a time when political
reforms and a national policy for youth are coming to light, according to
organisers.
This year's forum, held under the banner “Youth Dreams for 2010,” aims at
encouraging youth to imagine their situation in five years' time and
prioritising action plans for their own projects.
Participants will be offered a wide choice of topics to work on including:
Environment, health, civil and political rights, women's empowerment and ICT.
The event is organised by the National Forum for Youth and Culture, an NGO that
aims to raise awareness of youth-related issues and capacity building in
cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation/Jordan.
Launched in 2000, the forum is an annual youth-to-youth activity that offers
young people an interactive platform for discussing their concerns and
developing ideas and projects.
