Syrian-Jordanian Higher
Committee to convene tomorrow
By Khaled Nuaimat
AMMAN — The Syrian-Jordanian Higher Committee
will convene on Wednesday in Damascus to discuss bilateral cooperation,
Government Spokesperson Nasser Judeh told reporters on Monday.
Several ministers will accompany Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit, who is heading
the Jordanian delegation to the meetings, Judeh said.
During the weekly press briefing yesterday, the spokesperson said Bahkit is
engaged in ongoing meetings with political parties and civil society
organisations to discuss the draft laws, which have been prepared by the
government and will be addressed by the Lower House as soon as the new
parliamentary session begins.
The current talks are focused on the draft anti-terrorism, political parties,
municipalities, anti-corruption and anti-money laundering laws.
In response to a question regarding Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki’s call for
an Iraqi national reconciliation project, Judeh said “we support everyone who
seeks to unify Iraqis.”
Meanwhile, Judeh said the details of the “We are all Jordan” forum, which will
be held at the Dead Sea next month, would be announced by the Royal Court.
He added that this conference, to discuss the future of the country, would
include all sectors of the Jordanian people and civil society, as well as
official and non-official entities.
