Rifai, Majali meet with US delegation
A delegation representing the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) on Tuesday met separately with Senate President Zeid Rifai and Lower House Speaker Abdul Salam Majali. Rifai briefed the delegates on Jordan’s comprehensive development process despite the political situation in the region and its impact on the economy. Stressing Jordan’s rejection of terrorism in all its forms, he highlighted the concept of the Amman Message, initiated by His Majesty King Abdullah, which seeks to present the true image of Islam as a religion of forgiveness and peace. Majali, for his part, reviewed the current developments in the region, mainly the situation in Palestine and Iraq, with the delegates. During the meeting, the speaker also highlighted the development of parliamentary life in Jordan since its establishment as well as the relationship between the Lower House, as a legislative body, and the executive authority.
