Muasher briefs Senate Foreign Affairs Committee
AMMAN (Petra) — Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher on Monday briefed the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee on His Majesty King Abdullah's latest efforts with regard to regional developments, especially the Palestinian and Iraqi problems. He pointed out that the government has taken measures to facilitate the smooth flow of Iraqis and trade across the border with Iraq. Asked about Jordanian prisoners in Iraq, he cited the Red Cross and other sources as putting their number at around 30. He said the government was exerting continuous efforts to release them. Regarding the Israeli Gaza pullout plan, he reiterated that it should be part of the roadmap and a prelude to a more comprehensive withdrawal that includes the West Bank.
