King receives Ibrahimi, Erdogan

AMMAN (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday received United Nations Special Envoy to Iraq Lakhdar Ibrahimi who handed him a letter from UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on the future of Jordan's eastern neighbour. King Abdullah and Ibrahimi reviewed steps that might be taken by the UN to establish peace in Iraq and rebuild it.

His Majesty said Iraq needs all the help it can get, particularly the UN, to be able to overcome the current situation. Also Monday, Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania received, in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses Prince Ali and Princess Reem Al Ibrahimi, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his wife who were on a private visit to the Kingdom.

The King also received Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani, chairman of the Sharjah Civil Aviation Department, who conveyed to His Majesty a message from Sharjah ruler Sheikh Sultan Ben Mohammad Al Qassimi. Also Monday, the King sent a letter of condolences to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, expressing his deepest sympathies over the death of Transport Minister Hamdi Shayeb.
