Jordan's first comprehensive skills databank to be launched
AMMAN (JT) — The Royal Film Commission (RFC) is
launching the first ever local and regional data collection campaign for
production-related fields.
A priority project for the RFC, the compilation of comprehensive information
about available skills and services, will help identify and locate the
professional capabilities sought by producers when working on different types of
projects, according to a statement released by the commission.
The RFC hopes to promote this information-gathering programme through the
distribution of flyers, placement of Internet and newspaper ads, as well as
other outreach tactics. People can send their resumes via e-mail, to databank@film.jo,
or by mail (P.O.Box 811991, Amman, 11181). The information gathered will be made
accessible locally and worldwide for all those who need it, through a databank
on the RFC website (www.film.jo), the RFC statement said.
Among its goals, the RFC aims to provide a one-stop source of information to the
global production community for all types of productions in Jordan, including
features, documentaries, animation, 3D designs, photo-shoots, independents and
others.
As part of its mandate, the commission will serve both local and regional talent
and expertise by providing educational, networking and project-based job
opportunities.
With a database of professionals in production-related fields, the RFC can
better market and promote Jordanian and regional professionals seeking
challenging opportunities and experience in this highly competitive global
industry.
“There has never been such an undertaking before in our region, and we, in
Jordan, seek the help and cooperation of every film industry professional to set
a high standard that will place our country and region on the filmmaking map,”
RFC Executive Commissioner Samer Mouasher said.
“I urge those with the training, experience and expertise to send us their CVs
and full contact details so we may market the wide range of talent we have in
the region,” he added.
The RFC was established in July 2003 to serve as the Kingdom's official body for
film, television, and multi- media production.
A governmental organisation with administrative and financial autonomy, the RFC
is managed by a board of commissioners chaired by HRH Prince Ali.
The RFC supports and encourages creativity and freedom of expression through
providing opportunities for production training and media literacy to young
artists and aspiring filmmakers.
The commission also promotes cross-cultural interaction and global understanding
by supporting the development of a Jordanian film industry, as well as
encouraging foreign productions to film in the Kingdom, the statement said.
