Islam has nothing to do with terror — Monarch AMMAN (JT) — His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday said “it's so painful” that terrorist crimes, including the London bombings, are allegedly committed in the name of Islam. King Abdullah told CNN in an interview that Islam has nothing to do with terrorism, saying that he was relieved that Muslim communities in the UK and US strongly condemned the attacks that targeted the innocent, according to a Royal Court statement. The King reiterated that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict destabilises the entire Middle East and frustrates its peoples — an excuse that extremists exploit to increase tension. The Palestinian and Iraqi issues should be justly addressed to ease tension and isolate extremists, the Monarch said. The King, who sent cables of condolences to Queen Elizabeth II and British Prime Minister Tony Blair, reiterated his condemnation of the Thursday's terrorist attacks in London in an interview with the BBC on Friday. In a related development, HRH Prince Hassan, moderator of the World Conference of Religions for Peace, the world's largest coalition of religious leaders and their believers, denounced the attacks. “Every sincere and well-informed Muslim stands united in this condemnation,” he said in a statement. “Respect for the sanctity of life is the cornerstone of all great faiths.” Meanwhile, there will be a silent candlelight vigil in front of the British embassy tonight from 8:00pm to 8:30pm in solidarity with the people of the UK.
