Arafat hails Jordan's role
AMMAN (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday received a letter from Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, hailing Jordan's contribution to the Friday ruling by the International Court of Justice against Israel's barrier.Arafat described the world court ruling as “a triumph of justice and international law.”
The government yesterday welcomed the court ruling that the West Bank barrier is illegal.
Minister of State and Government Spokesperson Asma Khader, in Beirut to attend a regional forum on women, urged Israel to “respond to the requirements of the ruling, which should be activated by the international community and the United Nations.”
On Friday, Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher said the ruling was of considerable legal weight, “which Israel cannot ignore.”
Muasher added that Jordan will study measures to ensure Israel implements the decision.
