U.S. Reporter Highlights the Importance of Jordan’s Tourism

A U.S. reporter highlighted the importance of Jordan’s historical and tourists attractions, mainly the Dead Sea, noting that major changes which took place in Jordan over the past few years, make the country a destination for many tourists from various world countries.

“Until recently, the Jordanian side of the Dead Sea was not much more than a barren stretch of land, biblically sacred but inhabited mostly by Bedouin, but that’s quickly changing,” Lionel Beehner said in an article published in the New York Times. He said four hotels have been erected along the Dead Sea’s eastern muddy shores, offering a multitude of affusion showers and aromatherapy sessions. The Dead Sea’s main draw, he added, had been its abnormally high salt content, noting resorts in the area are now bringing spagoers to the area, particularly Russians.
“Europeans, and even some Americans, are also discovering the Dead Sea’s famed minerals”, Beehner said, noting the spagoers are attracted by Jordan’s reputation as a moderate and safe country, whose people are imbued with a Bedouin sense of hospitality.
