Jordanian Aid Convoy Arrives
in Lebanon
Beirut, July 19(Petra) -- The first Jordanian aid convoy arrived in Lebanon on
Wednesday in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives to
support the steadfastness of Lebanese brethren.
The unloading of the trucks started on the Lebanese- Syrian borders in Al-Areeda
area in preparation for distributing the aid to the needy people in several
Lebanese areas.
Charge d' Affairs at Jordanian Embassy in Beirut Muhammad Al Fayed said this aid
came under directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to support the Lebanese
people in face of the Israeli aggression.
'' The convoy consists of 20 trucks laden with 300 tonnes of tents, blankets,
medicine and foodstuff ' Fayed said in a telephone call with Jordan News Agency.
He added that the Embassy requested the concerned departments in Lebanon to
provide a list on Lebanon's needs of drugs and medical assistance.
It is noted that Jordan was the first country to announce sending emergency aid
to Lebanon and that Wednesday's convoy is the first to head for Lebanon via
land.
