Workshop for Iraqi
antiquities workers concludes
AMMAN (Petra) — A group of Iraqi workers employed in the restoration of
antiquities and archaeological sites on Thursday concluded a training course in
advanced and technical work. The participants in the 13-day training programme
were acquainted with modern methods of carrying out restoration and
documentation work in Iraq. The programme, sponsored by the Islamic Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organisation in cooperation with the Department of
Antiquities (DoA), included theoretical as well as practical training. DoA
Director General Department Fawaz Khreisha said his department is ready to help
Iraqis preserve and protect their heritage, and train Iraqi cadres working in
this field.
