Foreign Minister Meets International Middle East Quartet Envoy
Foreign Minister Abdul Ilah Al Khatib discussed with Britain's former prime minister and now special envoy of the
International Middle East Quartet, Tony Blair, the Middle East peace process and the latest developments in the region.
Blair expressed appreciation of His Majesty King Abdullah's efforts and his constructive and positive role in the region.
He said he was looking forward to a stronger cooperation with Jordan within his new mission as the International Quartet's
envoy.
Khatib reviewed His Majesty's efforts to launch serious talks between the Palestinian and Israelis to achieve a solution to
the Palestinian issue within a reasonable and specific time frame.
Jordan, he said, was keen to end the suffering of the Palestinian people through activating the Palestinian economy,
lifting blockade and security restrictions imposed on the Palestinians and rebuilding the national Palestinian institutions.
