Aqaba tourism
unaffected by Sharm El Sheikh terror attacks — Dahabi
AQABA (Petra) — Tourism at Aqaba and the ferry transport service between Aqaba
and Nweibeh in Egypt were running as normal on Sunday unaffected by the bomb
blasts in Sharm El Sheikh, according to Nader Dahabi, chief commissioner of the
Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority. Hotels in the port city reported high
occupancy rates, Dahabi said, noting that no reservations for Arab and foreign
vacationers were cancelled. The ferryboat service transported 330,000
passengers, 32 trucks, 10,000 cars and 380,000 tonnes of goods in the first half
of 2005.
