Smadi highlights
public-private sector partnership
Minister of State for Public Sector Reform Tayseer Smadi on Monday stressed the
importance of partnership between the public and private sectors and said this
collaboration would help the Kingdom achieve its strategic goals. Smadi said
cooperation between the two sectors in policy-making would reflect positively on
improving performance, utilising resources in an optimal manner and enhancing
competitiveness that would help in achieving sustainable development. In a
meeting with representatives from Jordan Vision 2020 Initiative, or JV2020,
Smadi said the aim of his ministry's programme is to improve the services
provided to people by state agencies, ease the red tape and promote the values
of transparency, accountability and equal opportunity in government performance.
JV2020 was launched in 1999 as an economic blueprint for Jordan. It is
spearheaded by the Young Entrepreneurs Association which is cooperating with 27
Jordanian business associations.
