King calls for end to
Israeli aggression
AMMAN, July 27 (Petra) - His Majesty King Abdullah called for an immediate
ceasefire in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories, the Jordan News Agency,
Petra, reported.
The King made the call during a meeting on Wednesday with Palestinian President
Mahmoud Abbas in Amman.
King Abdullah renewed his support for the Palestinian and Lebanese people in
“these difficult circumstances”. He also pledged to “employ all of Jordan's
capabilities to reach a ceasefire” and reduce suffering “due to the continued
Israeli aggression”.
Abbas briefed the Monarch on his talks with US Secretary of State Condoleezza
Rice in the West Bank on Tuesday.
The King also ordered the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization to send a new
aid convoy of 24 milk trucks to the Palestinian territories, Petra reported. The
trucks are expected to start arriving on Thursday.
