RSS, JICA sign agreement to train Palestinians
AMMAN (JT) — The Royal Scientific Society (RSS)
and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have signed a cooperation
agreement designed to hold training courses in the field of testing and
calibration of electrical appliances and measuring equipment.
Within the scope of the agreement, to last for three years, the Electronic
Services and Training Centre at RSS will annually conduct a two-month training
programme in the field for engineers from the Palestinian Standard Institute.
The training programme is expected to provide comprehensive technical knowledge
in the fields of testing and calibration, according to a statement released by
the RSS.
It will be conducted according to international standards required for
industrial and economic sectors in Palestine and lead to the removal of
technical trade barriers as well as ensure the safety of consumers.
These courses fall within the framework of a tripartite
Jordanian-Japanese-Palestinian training programme organised by JICA, which aims
at training Palestinian cadres in the field of testing and calibration.
The agreement was signed by RSS President Dr Sa'ad Hijazi and JICA Resident
Representative Hideo Morikawa.
Hijazi paid tribute to JICA for choosing RSS to be its technical adviser,
stressing that that RSS is ready to provide further technical consultations and
services in Jordan and the region.
