Khatib meets with chairman of committee investigating Israeli practices
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdul Ilah Khatib on Sunday met with Chairman of the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and other Arabs of the Occupied Territories Prasad Kariyawasam. Khatib expressed Jordan’s appreciation to the chairman and committee members for their efforts in highlighting and documenting examples of Israeli aggression against Palestinians as well as violations of their human rights. The minister stressed the importance of keeping the international community updated with the committee’s work. Khatib briefed the committee members on the negative impact of Israeli practices, especially those related to settlements, land confiscation and the separation wall. Kariyawasam and committee members commended Jordan’s role in facilitating their work. The special committee, formed under a UN General Assembly resolution, presents regular report to the UN secretary general on its work and results of its investigations.
