Aid concert raises funds for
Lebanon, Gaza
AMMAN (Petra) — Her Majesty Queen Rania on Sunday attended a concert featuring
Jordanian singer Makadi Nahhas, as part of a campaign to raise donations for the
victims of the Israeli onslaughts on Lebanon and Gaza.
The campaign, dubbed “Our Homes are Yours, Your Children are Ours and Your
Injuries are Ours,” is organised by the Jordan River Foundation (JRF), which the
Queen chairs.
The JRF launched the humanitarian effort in collaboration with a variety of
media, business and industrial establishments, in addition to telephony services
providers and members of the Lebanese community in the country.
By Sunday, organisers had collected cash and in-kind donations worth JD250,000.
At the beginning of the concert, spectators stood in a silence for one minute in
tribute to the victims of Israeli attacks in Lebanon and Gaza.
JRF Director Maha Khatib said the campaign is a manifestation of the role civil
society institutions can play in serving causes and protect human rights.
