King Holds Talks with Abbas
His Majesty King Abdullah II highlighted the importance of continuing international momentum that supports the return of
Palestinians and Israelis to the negotiation table on the final status talks as soon as possible.
King Abdullah said, during a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas today that Jordan was continued to exerting
efforts on the different levels to ensure starting negotiations that would lead to ending the Israeli occupation and
establishing the independent Palestinian state.
His Majesty outlined Abbas on the results of his recent visit for Canada and US as well as his efforts in Ottawa with
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and with US President George Bush and US Administration in Washington to rally
political and economic support for Palestinian people.
The King stressed on the Jordanian stand that supports the efforts of Palestinian president which aim to enhance the
Palestinian national institutions, energize Palestinian economy and improve life standards of Palestinians.
The two leaders discussed the recent invitation of US President to hold international meeting this year to discuss ways of
moving forward with peace process.
In this regard, King Abdullah noted to the importance of setting working plan and timeframe for such meeting to guarantee
its success. King highlighted need to waste no more time because of the dangerous consequences on the future of Palestinian
issue.
For his part, Palestinian president hailed the continued efforts exerted by His Majesty King Abdullah on the Arab and
international levels to support the Palestinian people’s issues and their legitimate right of liberation and independence.
Abbas outlined King Abdullah on the latest developments in the West Bank and Gaza Strip as well as efforts being exerted by
the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) to rearrange the Palestinian internal house and enhance the national unity.
