Monarch discusses religious coexistence, interfaith dialogue with US archbishop
His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met with Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, archbishop of Washington, DC.During the meeting, the Monarch stressed the importance of continuing efforts to promote religious coexistence and interfaith dialogue. King Abdullah commended McCarrick’s role in reinforcing understanding and coexistence between people of different faiths, which are in accordance with with the Amman Message. The initiative was launched in 2004 to reveal the true image of Islam and common values among religions. McCarrick commended the Kingdom’s efforts, under the leadership of King Abdullah, to achieve peace and stability in the region and also for the King’s initiatives to maintain dialogue, understanding and coexistence among nations.
