Prime minister urges Foreign
Ministry to promote investment opportunities
AMMAN (Petra) — Prime Minister Adnan Badran on Sunday urged Jordanian embassies
abroad to play a more effective role in supporting the national economy.
In remarks made during a visit to the Foreign Ministry, the prime minister said
that embassies should focus their efforts on attracting investment into the
country, help increase exports and play a central role in marketing the
Kingdom's tourist potential.
Badran praised the Foreign Ministry's diplomatic efforts, saying they have
succeeded in promoting the Kingdom's political and economic goals at the
regional and international levels.
Referring to the Palestinian question, Badran reiterated Jordan's support for an
independent Palestinian state.
He said the Israeli pullout from the Gaza Strip should serve as a prelude
towards the implementation of the roadmap in order to end the occupation and
pave the way for a lasting peace.
In reference to Iraq, the prime minister said Jordan supports efforts to
establish security and stability in the war-torn country, in addition to
stressing the Kingdom's unrelenting support for Iraq's fledgling political and
democratic institutions.
The prime minister on Sunday also visited the Audit Bureau where he reaffirmed
the government's determination to fight all forms of administrative and
financial corruption.
