Prime Minister meets Iraqi
Parliament Speaker
Amman, Aug. 17 (Petra)—Prime Minister Marouf al Bakhit affirmed that the
government had taken, under His Majesty King Abdullah's directives, a number of
measures to facilitate life for Iraqis in Jordan, whether with regards to
resident permits or enrollment in schools.
During a meeting with Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mahmoud Mashhadani in the
presence of Minister of Political Development and parliamentary Affairs Sabri
Rubiehat, Bakhit stressed Jordan's keenness to facilitate border measures for
Iraqi, noting his recent talks with the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki
touched on this issue.
Discussions also covered relations between Jordan and Iraq and mechanisms of
enhancing them in all fields.
Mashhadani praised in a press statement, the distinguished ties between Jordan
and Iraq as well as His Majesty's directives to attach attention and care to the
Iraqis in Jordan. He denied that Iraqi parliamentary blocs had demanded his
resignation.
