Muasher Meets US
Congress Member
Amman, Aug. 19 (Petra) -- Foreign Minister, Marwan Muasher, met Thursday with
member of the International Relations Committee at the US Congress, Tom Lantos.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and ways of
enhancing them in all domains in addition to the latest developments of the
peace process, especially the unilateral Israeli withdrawal plan from Gaza.
Muasher affirmed the Israeli withdrawal should be part of the roadmap. He also
briefed Lantos and his accompanying delegation on procedures implemented by the
Jordanian government in the field of political, economic and human rights
reforms.
On his part, Lantos expressed his appreciation over the Jordanian achievements
in the reform fields, noting to the US support for such reforms.
As for the Iraqi issue, the two sides affirmed the necessity of preserving the
unity of the Iraqi lands and supporting the Iraqi transitional government.
