Tourism not affected by
recent attacks
AQABA (Petra) — As a sign that tourism has not been affected by the recent
rocket attacks in Aqaba, 260 tourists have visited Petra over the past two days,
according to the Tourism Department there. In Aqaba, hotels also reported 100
per cent occupancy over the weekend. Tourism officials said more than 1,000
tourists from Hungary, Slovenia, Spain and the Netherlands are flying directly
to Aqaba this week. The visitors are scheduled to tour Aqaba and then pay visits
to Wadi Rum and Petra.
