King meets Barak
Amman, Aug. 30(Petra News Agency)-- His Majesty
King Abdullah II said that realizing a genuine peace between the Palestinian and
Israeli peoples necessitate the completion of the Israeli withdrawal from the
West Bank in accordance with the Quartet backed roadmap.
The King stressed that achieving security and stability requires serious efforts
and commitment to the implementation of the international peace plan.
During his meeting with former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, the King said
that the Israeli withdrawal is deemed an important step in the history of the
Palestinian cause. He also outlined Jordan's efforts along with the
international community's to support the peace process and urge the Palestinians
and Israelis to go ahead with the implementation of the roadmap.
King Abdullah also renewed the Jordan's stance in this regard, pointing that
establishing a viable Palestinian state is the guarantee to having stability in
the region. In addition, the King stressed that the Israeli withdrawal from the
West Bank would contribute to creating coexistence between the Palestinians and
Israelis.
On the other hand, His Majesty underlined the necessity of having a
comprehensive economic plan adopted by the international community to support
the Palestinian economy and rebuild Palestinian institutions.
For his part, Barak valued efforts exerted by His Majesty King Abdullah II to
advance peace and security in the Middle East, pointing to Jordan's role in
urging the Palestinians and Israelis to adhere to peace.
