His Majesty King Abdullah II tours three countries next week
AMMAN (JT) - His Majesty King Abdullah will head Saturday to Saudi Arabia on a brief visit, ahead of visits to France and Egypt during the week.
Ways to push forward the Middle East peace process ahead of an international meeting will top the agenda of his talks with senior officials in the three countries.
The King is scheduled to discuss with Saudi King Abdullah Ben Abdul Aziz means to reactivate the Middle East peace process and the situation in Iraq, in addition to bilateral ties, a Royal Court statement said.
On Sunday evening, King Abdullah will head for Paris on a two-day visit. In meetings with French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Prime Minister Francois Fillon, the Monarch is expected to call for a more active French and EU role in the Middle East peace process, especially regarding the US-proposed international Mideast conference, expected in November.
Talks with French officials will also cover developments in Iraq and the region and ways to bolster bilateral ties.
In Paris, King Abdullah is also due to meet with French business leaders whom he will encourage to cooperate with Jordanian peers to start further investments in the Kingdom.
French investments in Jordan constitute the highest non-Arab investment volume.
On Tuesday, the King will head to Egypt, where he will meet with President Hosni Mubarak for further coordination between the two countries on Mideast issues.
Before he flies to Paris Sunday, the Monarch will receive in Amman Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi to discuss means to rally European and international support for peace in the region and the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
King Abdullah and Prodi will also discuss international efforts to restore security and stability in Iraq and means to enhance cooperation between Amman and Rome in various fields.
Also Sunday, the King will meet with President of Maldives Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, who will be on a visit to the Kingdom to take part in the conference on Sharia judiciary.
The two leaders will discuss ways to enhance joint Islamic action regarding the challenges facing Muslims around the world.
