Lower House committee discusses SETP issue with senior officials

AMMAN (Petra) — The Lower House committee tasked with investigating the finances of the Socio-Economic Transformation Plan (SETP) met yesterday with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation (MoPIC) Suhair Al-Ali, Finance Minister Adel Kodah, Audit Bureau President Salem Khazaleh and other officials.

Deputy Mefleh Ruheimi (Jerash), head of the 11-member committee, said the officials responded to the committee's questions that focused on the Enhanced Productivity Centres Programme which operates under the SETP.

He said the deputies would meet in morning and evening sessions today to speed up the investigation process. The committee was formed in August to probe the SETP record of expenditures between 2001-2004. The SETP was launched in 2001 with the goal of accelerating the pace of social and economic reforms and raising the quality of citizens' living standards. The programme has been administered by the MoPIC.
