Meeting held to discuss
arrangements for parliamentary elections
A meeting was held on Saturday at the Ministry of Education to discuss
arrangements and procedures for the upcoming parliamentary elections. During the
meeting, headed by Minister of Interior Eid Fayez and Minister of Education and
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khalid Touqan, Fayez
highlighted the Education Ministry’s important role in ensuring the success of
the elections, particularly since 90 per cent of the voting centres will be set
up at its schools. The minister underlined the significance of cooperation among
related bodies, adding that 80 per cent of the employees working at the polling
centres will be from the Education Ministry. Eid said voting procedures at the
country’s 3,972 centres will be expedited in order to encourage more public
participation. Following the meeting, participants recommended forming a
committee to follow up on election-related issues. The committee will convene
every week on Saturday.
