Jaafari to visit Jordan
By Faisal Malkawi
AMMAN — Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari is expected to visit Jordan by the end of this month for talks on bilateral relations, sources said on Sunday.
During his trip, they added, Jaafari will
co-chair with Prime Minister Adnan Badran the meetings of the Jordanian-Iraqi
higher committee.
The meetings will cover military, security, transport, oil and trade issues,
according to the sources.
Jaafari and Badran are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on
security.
On Saturday, Badran paid a highly symbolic and supportive visit to Baghdad,
meeting with Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul Mehdi and Jaafari.
Badran was the highest level Arab visitor to Iraq since the US-led invasion in
2003 and his trip was seen as an attempt to shore up relations between the Arab
neighbours.
