Amman and Baghdad chambers of commerce sign cooperation agreement

AMMAN (Petra) — A joint cooperation agreement was signed on Monday between the Amman and the Baghdad chambers of commerce in a bid to boost the Jordanian-Iraqi economic relations. Under the agreement, the two sides will work to establish a free trade zone between the two countries to promote the joint commercial exchange and enhance the role of Jordanian companies in developing Iraq's economy. At present, Iraq is the country's second major economic partner, after the US. The Kingdom's exports to Iraq stood during the first seven months of the year at around JD244 million compared to JD94 million for the same period of 2003.
