Rania Talks with Students from Bannaker High School
Washington, Sep.14(Petra) -- Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania
launched a dialogue on the real meaning of Islam with students representing
Islamic, Christian and Jewish religions at Benjamin Bannker Academy. The Academy
students expressed appreciation of the King's efforts in continuing the
interfaith dialogue and valued his continuous efforts to achieve international
peace. Their Majesties' dialogue joined students from Banker's Academy,
International Saudi Academy, Hebrew Academy and Kadozo high school and asserted
the principles of peace, forgiveness and coexistence between all people. The
students who came from various social backgrounds informed the King on their
vision of the International issues.
Answering a question on the Jordanian role in achieving peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis, the King said that Jordan and the International society, especially the quartet committee, provide full support for both parties to move forward in the peace process. The King pointed that the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza is an important step that enhances the opportunities of achieving peace and securing a better future for the peoples of the region. The King viewed Jordan's efforts to implement reform and development programs especially in the fields of education in enabling women and the achievements in this regard.
The king answered the students questions on the situation in Iraq pointing that the most important thing is maintaining the unity and stability of Iraq. On her part, Queen Rania emphasized the importance of youth dialogue on the basis on the humanitarian values to enhance dialogue and acceptance of others.
