Preparations start to
hold 'Rebuild Iraq 2006 Exhibition'
By Mohammad Ghazal
AMMAN — International Fairs and Promotion Group (IFP) will organise an
exhibition next year to help speed up the reconstruction of Iraq and provide
international suppliers with the opportunity to take part in the rebuilding
process
“Rebuild Iraq 2006 Exhibition” will be held April 3-6 2006 at the Amman
International Fair in Marj Al Hamam, IFP President Albert Aoun announced at a
press conference this week.
“The exhibition seeks to pave the way for meetings between Iraqi businesspeople
and their counterparts from all over the world to discuss cooperation for the
reconstruction of Iraq in various fields,” Aoun said.
Referring to a similar exhibition that was held last April, when around 950
companies from 44 countries took part, Aoun described the 2006 exhibition as
promising since the number of companies which expressed willingness to take part
was more than that in 2005.
Alongside the 2006 fair, an international conference on business in Iraq will be
held. Several ministers, businesspeople, economists and bankers from different
world countries will take part in the event, Aoun indicated.
Fadi Kaddoura, IFP project director, predicted 15-20 per cent growth rate in the
number of exhibitors and exhibition space compared to the 2005 fair.”
He said there is a large inflow of booking requests for the “Rebuild Iraq 2006
Exhibition” from all over the world.
According to Kaddoura, new countries, which missed the 2005 event, have already
expressed willingness to have a full-scale participation at Rebuild Iraq 2006.
“The 2006 event will offer international suppliers a safe place to present their
products and technologies to thousand of visitors including Iraqi ministry
officials and decision makers, private sector professionals and businessmen,
contractors and subcontractors as well as leading Jordanian, regional and
international traders and importers,” Kaddoura added.
Sectors taking part in the event include construction, gas and oil, electricity,
telecommunications, agriculture and food, health and environment, hospitality,
packaging and printing, education, industrial machinery, security and IT, among
others.
To ensure a high level of visitor turnout, IFP will conduct massive and highly
targeted visitor promotion and media campaigns reaching out to the largest
number of leading professionals and traders in Iraq and across the region.
The organisers will hold a two-day Rebuild Iraq 2006 Conference on April 4-5
addressing all major issues including security, finance, contracting, business,
health, infrastructure development and trade.
The Rebuild Iraq 2006 Conference will be organised by the American Chamber of
Commerce in Jordan widely known as AmCham, and will include top Iraqi ministers,
keynote speakers and international experts on Iraq.
