Bakhit Patronizes Conference
on Amman Message
Zarqa, Sep. 20(Petra)—Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit patronized on Thursday
deliberations of an international conference on Amman Message.
The conference, entitled ''Amman Message in the Eyes of the Others'', is
organized by the Hashemite University to clarify the true image of Islam, based
on moderation, centrism and tolerance.
Bakhit delivered a speech in which he pointed to the Hashemite role in carrying
the message of Islam. He also highlighted the importance of adopting the
moderation approach, which is underlined by Amman Message.
For his part, President of the Hashemite University / head of the conference's
preparatory committee Omar Shdeifat noted to Jordan's historical role in
defending Islamic issues and showing the correct image of Islam.
'' The conference aims at spreading Amman Message to become an international
reference, achieving its goals on the ground as well as clarifying the Hashemite
role in carrying the message of Islam,'' Shdeifat added.
Around 30 thinkers, politicians, academics, historians, media figures and
researchers representing 13 countries, distinguished students from Jordanian
universities, and representatives of the civil society institutions are taking
part in the two- day event, which sheds light on the Islamic values of justice,
moderation, coexistence, and centrism.
