Iraqi vice president concludes visit to Kingdom

AMMAN (Petra) — Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari will visit Jordan soon to discuss bilateral ties and oil-related issues, Iraqi Vice President Ghazi Yawer said on Wednesday.

In remarks made at the conclusion of a two-day visit to the Kingdom, Yawer said several Iraqi officials would soon follow his lead and visit Jordan to discuss coordination and cooperation between the two neighbours.

He added that the oil issue would rank high on the agenda of such talks.

Referring to his visit, Yawer said discussions had focused on ways to enhance bilateral ties, adding that the Jordanian government has expressed its readiness to provide Iraq with the aid it requires and voiced its support for a united nation.

Asked about the recent military campaign on Tal Afar, Yawer said that he approved of attacks to combat the terrorists but more time should have been given to allow for the safety of the civilian population.

He said terrorism should be resisted not only with force, but also with the genuine Islamic teachings advocated by the Muslim faith.
