Aid convoy heads to
Palestinian territories
The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) on Monday dispatched a convoy
laden with food aid to the Palestinian territories, upon directives of His
Majesty King Abdullah to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians. The 14-truck
aid convoy is carrying 8,400 food parcels, JHCO Secretary General Abdul Salam
Abbadi said. He added that the convoy was sent in coordination with the Crises
Management Centre at the Jordan Armed Forces and the Palestinian Authority.
Abbadi highlighted that more assistance will be sent to the Palestinians, who
are facing a shortage of basic food items. Director of the Jordan representative
office in the Palestinian territories, Yahiya Qarallah, said seven of the trucks
will head to the Gaza Strip while the rest will be distributed in the West Bank.
HRH Prince Rashid, chairman of the JHCO board of trustees, was present when the
convoy left for the Palestinian territories.
