Jordan Takes part in Meetings of the International Organization for Standardization
Amman, Sept. 27 (Petra)-- Jordan, represented by
the Jordan Institutions for Standards and Metrology (JISM) took part in meetings
of the Executive Council of the International Organization for Standardization
(ISO) and the International Committee for Developing Countries Affairs, which
were held in Canada last week.
Director General of the JISM Yasin Al Khayyat said meetings of the ISO discussed
the annual working plan related to the strategic plan of the organization and
the developing countries for the year 2005-2010, its vision on facilitating
international trade and improving the quality of products.
A workshop was also held on the challenges that face the health care sector in
world countries.
During meetings of the Executive Council of the ISO, six new members in the
council from developed and developing countries were elected.
Al Khayyat called in a lecture he delivered, for establishing a working team
within the ISO to follow up requests of developing countries to sign twining
agreements with developed countries.
During the meetings, he also met with directors of standards and metrology
departments from a number of Arab and foreign countries and discussed with them
means of enhancing cooperation with Jordan.
