By Jumana Heresh
AMMAN — The family of Ramzi Doany, who went missing following the Sept. 11th attacks on the World Trade Centre (WTC) announced on Monday that they will hold a service in his memory on Thursday. The service will be held at Al Fadi Anglican Church in Amman.
“We will also be recieving condolences next Friday and Saturday,” said Ibrahim Doany, Ramzi's eldest brother.
Ramzi Doany, 35, worked as an auditor with Marsh and McLennan for the past year. He had reportedly logged onto his computer the morning of the attacks. His office was on the 100th floor of the WTC north tower.
“We have not received official confirmation of Ramzi's death, but all evidence leads us to believe that he passed away following the first hit on the WTC,” Ibrahim told The Jordan Times.
“They are now handing out death certificates in New York, and my sister, Dina, who went to search for Ramzi a few days after the attacks, is now applying for his death certificate,” he said.
According to Ibrahim, the family has not recieved any word from the Jordanian embassy in Washington or from Marsh and Mclennan indicating that Ramzi may still be alive.
Among those still missing is thirty-six-year-old Jordanian-American Robert Elias Talhami.
Robert, a stock broker for the London-based company Cantor Fitzgerald, was reportedly in his office on the 80th floor of the WTC north tower at time of the attack.
According to the Jordanian embassy in Washington, two Jordanians have been accounted for and are still hosptalised receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the attacks.
More than 6,000 persons were feared dead in the two airborne attacks that destroyed the WTC.
