Monarch receives Bahraini minister, US senators
AMMAN (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah on
Wednesday received Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid Ben Ahmad Al Khalifa,
who made a stop-over in Jordan en route to the Palestinian territories to meet
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Discussions focused on bilateral ties and regional developments. The minister’s
visit to Ramallah, the first ever by a Bahraini official to the Palestinian
territories, is to show solidarity with the Palestinian Authority and people.
Also yesterday, the Monarch met with Senator Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) and Senator
Mel Martinez (R-Fl).
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and the latest
political developments in the Middle East region, especially ways to restart the
peace process.
Discussions also covered the situation in Iraq.
Meanwhile, King Abdullah telephoned Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh on
Wednesday and reviewed bilateral ties and means to enhance them in the various
fields.
The Monarch also spoke to Saudi King Abdullah on Wednesday.
In a telephone call, the two leaders examined aspects of cooperation and
reviewed the latest political developments in the region.
