Improving standards of
living top priority — King
Serving, retired army, security and civil service personnel to
receive JD100 each
AMMAN (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday issued directives to
disburse JD100 each to serving and retired Jordan Armed Forces, security forces
and civil service personnel on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan.
In remarks at an iftar banquet that he shared with a large group of army
officers and soldiers at the Royal Military College, the King underlined the
difficult economic conditions citizens are going through.
“Improving the standards of living for the people is a top priority that we seek
to meet as soon as possible,” the King told the soldiers from various army
units.
“With hard work, determination, a strong will and true loyalty, we can overcome
the challenges facing us,” he added.
“I want you to rest assured that I will work relentlessly to make sure you and
your civilian colleagues are comfortable... People will [eventually] reap the
fruits of what we have been building over the past seven years,” the Monarch
told the servicemen, who also included members of the security services.
The King said he is optimistic about the future, which will be built with the
determination of “brave Jordanians.”
The Supreme Commander recalled the 20 years he spent in the Armed Forces.
“I am aware of the sacrifices and huge responsibilities shouldered by every
soldier and officer in the security services and the army, who are the source of
our pride,” he said.
The Monarch joined the attendees in performing the maghreb prayers.
Their Royal Highnesses Prince Hussein, Prince Feisal, Prince Ali and Prince
Hamzah, along with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff General Khaled Sarayreh
and his senior aides were also present at the event.
