American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan to hold AJEX 2004 'Partnering for Success'on Dec. 1
Amman (JT) In its continuous pursuit to create the ideal fertile environment for trade and investment opportunities, JABA, the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, is holding the third annual American Jordanian Expo (AJEX 2004) under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah, in Amman on Dec. 1-2, 2004.
JABA first organised AJEX in 2001 and 2003, after the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was signed between Jordan and the USA, in the endeavour of encouraging and promoting trade and investment between both countries, creating awareness and highlighting the vast range of opportunities resulting from the trade agreement.
Today, we realise that Jordan must seize a great unique opportunity and capitalise on the differential trade agreements with the United States, the European community and the Arab world, said Azzam Shweihat, the chairman of JABA. AJEX is a result of this realisation providing a platform to respond and embrace the global market trends and opportunities that lead to the excelling of an economy.
Since its creation in 1999, JABA has grown into an organisation of more than three-hundred-and-eighty-member companies, providing business development, networking and matchmaking support, training, business consultation and public policy advocacy.
AJEX 2004, with the apt theme of Partnering for Success brings together experts and professionals from various sectors to collaborate and share their expertise and insights in the different means and opportunities available from the FTA, and the establishment of Jordan as a key gateway to the Iraqi reconstruction market.
Opportunities to do so, will arise through the breakout sessions on sector-related best practices and business development topics; as well as the networking possibilities with various international business delegations through the private consultations and networking desks provided by government organisations, US trade office representatives, JABA's business development unit, the Jordan US Trade with Iraq Programme (JUST Iraq Programme) and the Jordan-US FTA Unit.
AJEX 2004 will be two days of uniting experts and participants from Jordan, US, Iraq, Europe, Africa, Asia and the region, together in exploring opportunities through various seminars and sessions presented throughout the conference.
The AJEX 2004 exhibition running simultaneously alongside it, will open to the professional community the chance to view numerous organisations that represent importers of US products, US franchisees, producers and exporters of Jordanian products, companies operating at QIZs, US technology companies, regional American chambers of commerce, business associations and government organisations.
AJEX 2004 is supported by the USAID-funded AMIR Program, as well as a group of private sector sponsors. It is the third conference and Expo, after the success of both AJEX 2001 and AJEX 2003.
